Waiting. Waiting. Waiting... Will today be the day this anemone splits in to two? There is no denying clones are pretty cool. It's not science fiction, it's just science. Colonies of pink-tipped clones will "fight" other colonies to keep a gap of space between them. Kind of like keeping to your bubble. Stay safe. You may see them on rocky shores at low-tide appearing likes clusters of green donuts. #clonesarecool #sciencefiction #patience #lookwhatIcando #salishsea #lowtide #beachcombing
Hello Henry!

Bob, a long time fan and member of the Centre, snapped some photos today of Henry the octopus. Thanks Bob.

Welcome Dr. (Bonnie) Henry the Giant Pacific Octopus!

There are times when we just skip the contest and go straight to honouring someone with an octopus namesake. And one of those time is now -- to recognize BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr.
Welcome Dr. (Bonnie) Henry the Giant Pacific Octopus! There are times when we just skip the contest and go straight to honouring someone with an octopus namesake. And one of those time is now -- to recognize BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry. From the media release: Before a new octopus arm (arm, arm, arm, arm, arm, arm, arm) stepped “foot” in the Centre, the team knew recognizing the incredible grace, kindness, intelligence, compassion, dedication, and calm demeanor Dr. Bonnie Henry has shown the province during COVID-19 was a given. And if the giant in giant Pacific octopus wasn’t a clear enough measure of admiration, octopuses have THREE hearts, a symbol that has come to reflect gratitude for Dr. Henry, healthcare and frontline workers. The 5 lb male octopus arrived June 18 and is officially Dr. Henry, or Henry if you wish! Photo: Dr. Henry not shown. But he's little and he's cute so you'll just have to come and snap your own photo. #bonniehenry #bekindbecalmbesafe #gratitute #admiration #bc #bcgovernment #heartsforhealthcareworkers #octopus #cephalopod #salishsea

Will it or won't it?

We're watching and waiting to see if the pink-tipped anemone at the top of this image will split into two!

Other anemones have us wondering too. Visit us this weekend to see for yourself.
